Qur’an Bearers: Nobles of this Ummah

Taken from Fajr. May Allah (swt) reward her greatly.

Imam al-Jazari’s praise for the Qur’an bearer – taken from the Muqaddimah of‘Tayyibat al-Nashr.’

A person is not honoured or raised
Except by what he knows and has memorised

For that reason the bearers of Qur’an
Are the nobles of this Ummah and its righteous

And they are the people of Allah amongst Mankind *
And indeed our Lord has boasted of them

He spoke of them in the Qur’an, and it is sufficient
That He gives it (the Qur’an) to those He has chosen **

And in the Hereafter, it is an ardent intercessor
And its statement is something surely heard

By it a person is given the dominion and immortality
And likewise, he is given the crown of honour

He’ll read and ascend the ranks of Paradise by it
And his parents will also be clothed by it ***

So let a person strive to attain it
And let him never tire of its recitation.

* Due to the hadith: ‘Indeed Allah has people from amongst Mankind. The people of Qur’an, they are the people of Allah and His Specialties.’ [Ahmad, Ibn Majah]

** Due to the verse in Soorah Fatir:

ثُمَّ أَوْرَثْنَا الْكِتَابَ الَّذِينَ اصْطَفَيْنَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَا فَمِنْهُمْ ظَالِمٌ لِّنَفْسِهِ وَمِنْهُم مُّقْتَصِدٌ وَمِنْهُمْ سَابِقٌ بِالْخَيْرَاتِ بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ ذَلِكَ هُوَ الْفَضْلُ الْكَبِيرُ

“Then We gave the Book for inheritance to such of Our slaves whom We chose…” [Fatir: 32]

*** Due to the hadith: ‘The Qur’aan will meet its companion on the Day of Resurrection when his grave is opened for him, in the form of a pale man. It will say to him, ‘Do you recognize me?’ He will say: ‘I do not recognize you.’ It will say: ‘I am your companion the Qur’aan, who kept you thirsty on hot days and kept you awake at night. Every merchant benefits from his business and today you will benefit from your good deeds.’He will be given dominion in his right hand and eternity in his left, and there will be placed on his head a crown of dignity, and his parents will be clothed with priceless garments the like of which have never been seen in this world. They will say: ‘Why have we been clothed with this?’ It will be said: ‘Because your son used to recite Qur’aan.’ Then it will be said to him: ‘Recite and ascend in the degrees of Paradise,’ and he will continue to ascend so long as he recites, either at a fast pace or a slow pace.’ [Ahmad, Ibn Majah]

Busta Rhymes, T-Pain, Akon and Swissbeatz Recite Qur’an in Arab Money Remix!

Nice letter by MR on his post that I wanted to share.

May Allah (swt) forgive us all! I recently blogged about Busta Rhymes song, Arab Money, and how it was insulting to Islam, Muslims and Arabs, but now his remix has gone way to far!  Although this is a huge dawah incentive, becuase many people will inquire, “What is Busta saying?”. This is an open letter to them:

Open Letter to Busta Rhymes, T-Pain, Akon and Swissbeatz

Asalamualykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh my dear brothers in Islam Busta Rhymes, T-Pain, Akon and Swissbeatz.

All praise is due to Allah (swt).  Lord of the worlds.  It is Allah whom we worship and only Allah we go to for help.  It is Allah who has given us everything and it is Allah who will take everything away.

Busta – I recently heard your song called Arab Money and I was disappointed at it.  I posted my reflection here.  Now you have a remix with Akon, T-Pain and Swissbeatz who are also Muslims a long with other rappers like Diddy.

All of you understand that the Qur’an is the word of Allah (swt) and that it should be treated with the utmost respect.  I am not going to judge your intentions but only give you sincere advice.  I am not sure if you are aware of the ruling on music in Islam but I advise you to seek knowledge, read the Qur’an, the Hadith and consult with Muslim scholars in America regrading music in Islam.

It may be your intention was to praise Allah and give thanks to Him for all the money you have been blessed (or tested) with which is a good thing, but the way the song is presented is disrespectful and may stir emotions amongst the Muslim community.

I sincerely ask you to check out Halal Tube and listen to some lectures there.  You can download the audio lectures in MP3 format and add it to you iPod/iPhone and listen to it while you travel around the country and world.

Anything good I have said is from Allah (swt) and anything bad I said is from myself.  Please forgive me if I have offended any of you.

Here is the audio clip:

Iron Man, Superhero or Superzero?

First of all, unless your name is Batman, Spiderman, Superman, Wolverine, or are a member of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles you are NOT a superhero. Know your role and stick to it.  You are only embarrassing yourself and will be relegated to the forgotten and laughable likes of Silver Surfer, Green Lantern, or that big rock dude from the Fantastic 4. Forget old school, I don’t even want to start with these fake “superheros” that all the poor kids have to deal with in these new cartoons. Iron Man, you are most definitely a Superzero.

Ok, now what I really wanted to talk about 🙂 I am currently talking a materials science class called Materials that Shaped Civilization and it mentioned the first uses of iron by mankind. The first iron implements used by man were fabricated out of iron that came from meteorites. Also, the reason why it took so long for the Iron Age to replace the Bronze Age was became of the very high temperatures needed to smelt iron from its ores found on Earth. Much of it was used to make very strong steel swords (steel is iron with maybe 0.2% carbon) in the past, and the entire industrial revolution was based on iron/steel. That may not sound very interesting, but the AMAZING and MIND BLOWING part comes after I read the Quran.

In Surah Al-Hadeed, or the Chapter Iron, Allah (swt) mentions another scientific miracle in the Quran. He (swt) says:

We sent aforetime our apostles with Clear Signs and sent down with them the Book and the Balance (of Right and Wrong), that men may stand forth in justice; and We sent down Iron, in which is (material for) mighty war, as well as many benefits for mankind, that God may test who it is that will help, Unseen, Him and His apostles: For God is Full of Strength, Exalted in Might (and able to enforce His Will).  (Quran, 57:25)

Pay special attention to how Allah (swt) mentions iron as being sent down. As my professor mentioned, as well as researchers at NASA, iron was sent down to the Earth because there is nowhere near enough energy in the entire solar system to even produce a single atom of iron.

Another translation of the same ayat states:

…We sent down iron having severe heat…

Which would also explain the very high melting temperature that caused the delay of transition from the Bronze Age to the Iron Age.

Here is a video that also explains the miracle of Iron in the Quran.

Also, in the course I was really pleased how the professor mentioned that after the Muslims took over Constantinople (modern day Istanbul, Turkey) and the Eastern Roman Empire they took great care in preserving the ancient Greek manuscripts, knowledge, and language while the Christians in the Western Roman Empire were burning all of the ‘hethen’ literature. The Christians in the Western Roman Empire completely lost the language and knowledge and only after interactions (albeit very hostile at first) with Muslims during the Crusades did they regain this knowledge and caused the Reniasance to occur. In addition, the Muslim Moors in Spain were masters in designing Toledo Steel to make the strongest swords through their advanced knowledge of the properties of iron.

Although Iron Man may not be an amazing superhero, he has an amazing origin for his metal gear.
